You may have a little one with a whole lot of extra energy…even more than normal these days. Even with a string of bad weather you might want to try stretching out. A few years back I taught for a summer program for an amazing Arts company called Young Audiences. They have a wellness component in their daily routine and I wanted to honor that so I did a little shopping during our teacher orientation. At a boutique bookstore across the street I came across these colorful instructional yoga cards. My summer kids enjoyed taking turns leading as yoga master.
When Mother’s Day rolled around this year I told my family that all I wanted was to lead a yoga session in the playroom with a fresh cup of coffee near by, pre-made for me, of course. We enjoyed picking out cards for each new pose. This set is divided nicely into categories: standing stretches, twisting stretches, breathing, time-in, partner, and small group games. The breathing cards and time-in cards are great for teaching personal break time as they promote internal visioning focused on special types of breathing and reflections. The individual stretches reference all of the animal kingdom. I love how each card has a step by step example so if your students are more visual learners they can look through the card and get the hang of it.

Wow! Such an amazing idea! Neat cards. Beautiful post & photos. I love your daughter’s full head of hair… and your son & husband trying the poses! This is a great idea for any family. I would love to do this with you guys the next time I visit.
